"The services which I render are held out to the public as non-therapeutic hypnotism, defined as the use of hypnosis to teach positive thinking and the capacity for self-hypnosis. I do not represent my services as any form of health care or psychotherapy, despite research to the contrary." Sue Hull
Thank you very much for your interest in hypnotherapy and for visiting my website. This portion of the website is still under construction, however, I can give you the great news that.....
HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS!!!
You can change your life through the power of your mind! All healing and change begins in the mind!
The objective of hypnotherapy is to help create a sense of peace, relaxation and harmony within the individual so the subconscious mind can meet and deal with challenges in a positive manner. Those challenges may be medical in nature or self-sabotaging habits. Self empowerment and the use of the total mind is the goal.
During hypnosis, the body and conscious mind are in a very relaxed, neutral state while the subconscious mind remains awake and receptive to positive, helpful suggestions. Hypnotherapy is an education, communication, reprogramming process within a person's subconscious mind that allows her/his conscious and subconscious mind to believe the same message and to work together toward the desired goal(s). (i.e. both your conscious and subconscious mind believe that you have self confidence and are relaxed, calm and in control or are in control of your eating and exercise habits and are at your ideal weight and size or will pass an exam or be able to manage your pain) With your total mind working together, your goal(s) become your reality!
Hypnotic suggestions bypass the relaxed conscious mind and are absorbed by the subconscious mind. When given a suggestion during hypnosis that is within the bounds of a person's desires, belief system and moral orientation, the subconscious mind accepts it literally as a new reality and acts upon it powerfully!
The ability to reprogram emotional attitudes, beliefs and reactions is a latent ability within every human being. Hypnotherapy is the most functional, reasonable, noninvasive way to train/retrain lifelong attitudes and beliefs rather than suffer a lifetime of emotionally driven "accidents" the conscious mind is unable to deal with positively on it's own. The subconscious mind can find and change old beliefs that have caused relationship problems or imprints that have you thinking poorly about yourself and your life. Hypnotherapy is a wonderful gift you can give yourself!
People of average intelligence (unless there is some form of organic brain damage) can be hypnotized if they are willing, wanting to be and do not resist. (No one can be forced into hypnosis or to do anything they don't want to do!) Hypnotherapy is a consent agreement that the client has with her/himself and the Hypnotherapist. 90% is the responsibility and effort of the client and 10% of the therapist. The client is always in control!
In 1958 the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association and the British Medical Association approved and adopted hypnotherapy as a viable and desirable therapeutic tool when used by professionally responsible, trained individuals. The American Dental Association recommends hypnosis as a "nonpharmacological method" technique of "preoperative and operative anxiety and pain control."
Hypnotic suggestions stay with some individuals indefinitely while others need periodic reinforcement. The effects of hypnotherapy are cumulative - the more the techniques are practiced in your daily life, the more effective the sessions will be and the more permanent the results will be. Self-hypnosis training provides additional help.
Professional Hypnotherapists who belong to recognized hypnotherapy associations have completed many hours of training and practice and have passed certification exams. They are required to fulfill a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education each year to allow for continued growth and development of the therapist and an assurance to clients that they are receiving the best care possible. I personally far exceed the requirements every year - I just returned from a week of training where I received 60 hours of continuing education and 4 additional certifications. This assures the public that the certified member therapist, in good standing, is responding to current professional guidelines.
I am certified by and a member in good standing of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA), The National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT).
I am an instructor for IMDHA and IACT and I speak nationally and internationally to hypnotherapists and dental professionals on hypnotherapy in dentistry.
My hours of training and continuing education far exceed what is required of me. Last year I received 145 official hours of training beyond my own reading and studying. This year I have accumulated 140 hours of training to date. I also have my certificate and degree in Dental Hygiene and have practiced in the dental field for over 30 years. Working with people to help better themselves has been and continues to be my life!
I am the owner of and instructor for the IMDHA approved hypnotherapy school, Mind Your Potential Institute, located in Omaha, Nebraska.
My fee for hypnotherapy is $150 per session. The first session lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours and subsequent sessions are usually 45 minutes to an hour. The number of sessions needed totally depends upon each individual client, what goals the client sets for her or himself, what issues are involved and how dedicated the client is to practicing the suggestions agreed upon. Stress management and self confidence are issues that can vary widely in the number of sessions needed but the client knows how they are feeling and if they require more sessions. Weight release, for instance, usually takes a minimum of 4 sessions (one week apart for 4 weeks) and sometimes another 2 to 4 sessions - but the schedule and frequency of sessions is totally determined by each of my clients - you are totally in charge. I usually recommend a minimum of 3 sessions and sometimes up to 4 for smoking cessation, however you are a nonsmoker when you leave the first session. Studying and passing exams take 2 to 4 sessions usually. Pain management and other medical/dental issues vary widely depending on each individual situation and issue. (MEDICAL, DENTAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL REFERRAL MAY BE REQUIRED FOR SOME SITUATIONS.) This is all decided at the initial interview and discussed with the client at each session. We keep in mind that it takes 28 to 30 days to break or start a new habit. In other words - we work together to decide what is best for you! No two people are alike and their issues and goals are their own!
The areas that hypnotherapy can be helpful with are really endless but I will list a few: addictions, allergies, body & mind health, cancer & catastrophic illness, codependency issues, disabilities, bed wetting, fibromyalgia, MS, fears, improved concentration, sleep, preparation for or fear of medical/dental procedures, memory improvement, motivation, sadness, nail biting, pain management, performance enhancement, public speaking, relaxation, self confidence, self esteem, self healing body/mind/spirit, smoking/ tobacco cessation, sports performance, stress, headaches (after other medical causes have been eliminated), study habits/test taking, weight control/nutrition, exercise, sales, etc. Again, we do not diagnose or treat and a Medical, Dental or Psychological referral may be required for some situations.
I hope this answers any questions and I look forward to hearing from you so we can discuss your goals and concerns. Our sessions and anything we discuss are all totally confidential.
Thank you very much for your time and your interest in hypnotherapy and making a better life for yourself!
